The research is set back by the process of learning islamic education materials that tend to be monotonous in the sense of focusing on material exposure explained by educators only to create a poor learning environment for students. Not only is the learning monotonous, the educators tend not to see how far the students understand and experience the learning materials presented. Researchers believe that the model contextual teaching and learning (CTL) is able to address the above problems through reactivation of the class environment that can eventually influence students' learning.
The research was conducted at Senior High School 10 Samarinda. The research used a kind of quantitative research experiment in which consists of two samples of XI MIPA 6 as experiment class and XI MIPA 5 as class control. As for the data collection technique used the kinds of double-choice learning tests that are carried out twice (pretest and posttest) to see the difference between before and after the performance of learning with the contextual teaching and learning model (CTL) for experimental classes and conventional model for control class. The instruments used number 15 valid of 25 issues. The analysis techniques used were normality tests, reliability tests, homogenities tests, and hypothetical tests.
The research result shows that learning outcomes of experiment class that taught by Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model higher than learning outcomes of control class that taught by Conventional model. Based on analytical calculation, the experiment class pretest was 80,55 and the control class pretest was 78,08 and posttest of 93,59 in experiment class and posttest of 86,25 in control class. The result of the hypothesis analysis obtained that the value of significance (Sig.) smaller than alpha score (α) which is 0,018 < 0,05 with significance level of 95%. It shows that alternative hyphothesis was accepted which means treatment of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) can lead a difference between learning outcomes experiment class and control class which concludes Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) was more effective towards learning outcomes in Islamic Teaching Education (PAI) at Senior High School 10 Samarinda.
