The Foreign Language Acquisition Of 9 Years-Old Kid In Sambutan Idaman Permai Regency

Based on research was conducted by researcher to the subject found that the ability to obtain a foreign language is influenced by self-motivation and family environment support. However, there was difficulty in subject during the acquisition of foreign language, namely from the academic side. As a result, subject can obtain and realize her skill through the motivation she has and environmental factors that supported the ability of the subject. The purpose of this study was to find out how the subject acquired the foreign language through motivation, such as playing, watching cartoons, and reading something in English. This research was conducted at a 9 years-old kid in Sambutan Idaman Permai regency.
The method that has used by researcher during research was the scrutinize method that referring to the subject by using three instruments, namely observation, interview, and documentation. This research was conducted for two months, began on November 25, 2019 to January 18, 2020. In the observation instrument, researcher used the observation checklist and observation field notes. Then, in interview researcher used unstructured interview. Finally, the documentation researcher used the documentation checklist as a reference for researcher.
The conclusion of this research indicate that there were some factors supporting the foreign language acquisition of subject, both internal and external factors. Internal factors that influence the acquisition of subject language were subject motivation, cognitive factor, and age of the subject. While external factors that support the acquisition of a foreign language subject were the influence of the family, especially parents, the special habits of the subject such as watching cartoons, the condition of the subject during the acquisition of the language, namely the subject in a very physical and cognitive state, and the environmental stimulus on the process of acquiring subject language. So, it proved she acquired the foreign language from the naturalistic type. The theories that supported in language acquisition of subject were theory was stated by Skinner namely Behaviorism theory, Cognitivism theory by Piaget and Interactionism theory by Gardner.
