This research was supervised by Mrs. Dina Destari, S.S., M.Pd as the first supervisor and Mrs. Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the second supervisor.
This research has objectives to know the students’ perception and motivation in online learning through video conferencing in UINSI Samarinda. This research generally answers two questions: (1) What are students’ perceptions of online learning through video conferencing? and (2) How are students’ motivation in learning English through video conferencing?.
Based on its objectives, this study used a qualitative descriptive method, the population in this study was three classes with a total of 78 students, from the population the entire class was taken with a total of 51 students. Students from local A and B totaling 20 people who are informants in this research. The respondent is local C with a number of 31 students and uses video conferencing applications. Data was collected using interview instruments and questionnaires to find out the level of students' learning motivation and students' perceptions of online learning.
The result of this research is presented descriptively to reveal the students' perception and motivation comprehensively. The research found that using video conferencing for online learning has several advantages and disadvantages, whereas the effects felt by students are also different. Students have several difficulties learning, but they can solve them independently. The perception here supported by the results of a questionnaire that has a diverse percentage, the questionnaire use to be measured interview of students’ perception and motivation. The researcher determined the measurement criteria. The most of students have motivated in percentage of 75% obtained as good motivation results of measurement criteria. Based on students’ responses to filling interview and questionnaire, students’ perception and motivation in online learning through the video-conferencing application was quite good, and video conferencing application learning was quite helpful in online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic.
