Pd as the first supervisor and Mrs. Anis Komariah M. Pd as the second supervisor. Writing is one of the English language skills that are very important for students to learn. Students have lack of writing abilities because in the learning process the English teacher English still uses teacher-centered where the teacher plays a very active role in controlling the learning process, so that student are generally only passive whatever given by the teacher. The objectives of this research were to ascertain whether or not Dialogue journal at the eighth grade of MTs Al-Mujahidin 2 Samarinda are increasing students’ descriptive writing and to ascertain whether there is any significant effective in students’ descriptive writing at the eighth grade of MTS’ Al-Mujahidin 2 Samarinda after being using Dialogue journal. The research used a quantitative true-experimental method. The population of this research was whole students at the eighth grade include two classes consist of 56 students. The sample of this research was the eighth grade they were VIII A as the experimental class and VIII B as the control class. Each class consisted of 28 students. For sampling technique, the research use the cluster sampling technique. The instrument used in this research was awritten test in the form of multiple choice question, fill-in, and essay. In analyzing the data, the researcher used independent sample T-test to analyze students’ learning outcomes, by conducting pre-test and post-test. The result of this research showed the most of students have gained good scores after the treatment. The students pre-test average score in experimental class was 49.00 while the post-test average score was 71.07. In the control class, the students’ average pre-test score was 52.14 and the post-test average score was 64.71. there was a significant difference of students post-test average score of the experimental class which was treated by using dialogue journal was greater than the result of post-test of the control class which was treated without using Dialogue journal. The result of statistical hypothesis test found out that the Asymp. Sig value of the experimental class increased by a 2-tailed p of one-side p was 0.019 and two-side p was 0.037, less than the 5% threshold (0.05) rejecting the null hypothesis (H0). Therefore the H0 was rejected and the Ha was accepted. It proved that Dialogue journal increases students’ descriptive writing.
