Thesis, English Education Study Program, Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty, State Islamic University Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. This research is under guidance of Mr. Dr. Umar Fauzan,M.Pd as the first supervisor and Mrs. Dra. Sitti Hadijah, M.Pd as the second supervisor. Technology enters the educational sphere, especially to the learning of foreign languages. The use of artificial intelligence makes it easier for students in the learning process. especially in the writing process, the existence of artificial intelligence can provide convenience in the form of providing references quickly, paraphrasing sentences, and now artificial intelligence can check the structure in sentences which will certainly improve students' abilities in writing. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. This method aims to describe fully and depth about the various phenomena. For sampling the data this research use purposive sampling. The participants of this research focus on students English Language Study Program in academic year 2023/2024 who use artificial intelligence in writing. The data was gathered through interviews, observations, and documentation. The researcher asked a few short questions to several artificial intelligence. Observation and documentations how students use artificial intelligence. The data analyzed according to Miles, Huberman and Saldana Qualitative Data Analysis. The credibility to checking the data use Triangulation. The data findings showed that the most artificial intelligence that students use such as, Quill Bot, Grammarly, Chat GPT, Deep L, Perplexity AI and Essay Writer. During the process of writing most students use artificial intelligence on times of brain storming and drafting. Because they feel that it is an acute need for artificial intelligence in the process to find references and how to comprise a sentence into a paragraph a student still requires artificial intelligence. However, according to research, they still use artificial intelligence in its natural stages, as the students use artificial intelligence according to their needs and abilities.
