Thesis on English Education Department Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty State Islamic University Of Sultan Aji Muhamad Idris Samarinda. As for lecturers who guide, among others, Dr. Bahrani, M.Pd as the first advisor and Dini Irawati, M.Pd as the second advisor. One of the languages which is very important and necessary to learn is English. English is an international language that is used broadly in the world. English is known as one of the international languages. Many people from all parts in the world use English as their first or even their second language. English has an important role in kinds of field. It is used in tourism, business, politics, education, science, important, moreover in this global era. So, people will be able to face the over changing world easily if they master English well. The purpose of this research was to find out the students’ problem in learning English at the sixth semester of English department at UINSI Samarinda in academic year 2023/2024.
The design of this study was qualitative. The researcher nine students from the sixth semester of English Department at UINSI Samarinda. The researcher used interview guide as the research instrument. The researcher interviewed to the research participants in the data collection. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the flow data qualitative analysis of Miles and Huberman covering data collection, data display and conclusion.
The result of this research showed that students were lack of practice influence the student problems faced in learning English, low English causes a lack of self- confidence in students. Possible solutions to overcome for these problematic were students should practice more either on their own or with friends in class or outside of class and the lecturers should provide adequate practice in various ways to improving the students English language.
